Tabu

First year of Tabu

The New NoFit State Archive Website

The website has been an important part of the archive project, and will be a live and ongoing base, and place, to view all that NoFit State has done - the people, the shows, places travelled to etc. It reveals the journey of a company that is very reflective of Britain in the late 20th century and early 21st century. The company grew from  an idea grasped by five young people, who had to use their ingenuity to keep going, month by month, year by year, and tap into the means available and the funding structures available at the time.

This journey shows up fabulously well in a digital way; you can see the evolution of show to show, and why certain decisions had to be made to remain financially viable, in a period much of which didn't recognise New Circus as a legitimate art form that qualified for funding.

The archive has been created from scratch with Toby Philpott in charge, explaining the requirements, working closely with John Ellingsworth, and there is a detailed explanation of the requirements for the digital archive as written in the heritage lottery fund application feature in a previous blog from the spring (search for digital archive or John Ellingsworth). The next blog explores this more closely.
